The commercial and business centre of a town or city. This part of the settlement will have the highest land prices. Central Business District

The location of 'old' industry within the city. Now usually in a state of decline or transition.

Wholesale Light Manufacturing
Terraced housing built by the owners of the nearby industry to house the workers. Inner City
Semi-detached housing can be found here with gardens and on large estates. There is a high concentration of council owned housing. Inner Suburbs
Private, top quality housing with large gardens and garages. Outer Suburbs
The very edge of the settlement. Includes satellite villages often called 'commuter villages'. Rural-urban Fringe
