  1. Turn off all the Google Earth Layers.
  2. Turn on the 'Terrain' and the 'Borders and Labels' layers.
  3. Visit the Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program Website and download the Holocene Volcanoes Placemarks. Open the placemark file with Google Earth. It will appear in the Places window.
  4. Use the Ruler tool to find the nearest volcano to your school.
Developments Ideas
  1. Use the KML Circle Generator to draw concentric circles radiating from your school's location to help determine the closest volcano.
  2. Visit the Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program Website and download the SI / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report Network Link.
