IB Geography Case Studies

The spatial diffusion and socio-economic consequences of a disease.

You have the choice of the following diseases:

Malaria

IB Geography Induction Tasks

Stage One: Produce a case study for your chosen disease.
Stage Two: Produce and deliver a presentation about your chosen disease.
Stage Three: Collaborate with other students who have studied the same disease as you to produce a revision page about the disease. This will be presented on a wiki so that it can be shared with other AS / A2 / IB Geography students.

Stage One: Case Study

Your case study document should be word processed and no more than four sides of A4.

It should include the following:

The origins of the disease.
How the disease has spread globally?
Where the disease has spread globally.
The impacts that the disease has had on population (Demographic Impacts).
The impacts that the disease has had on economies (Economic Impacts).
The impacts that the disease has had on societies (Social Impacts).
The future of the disease (including the management of it's impacts)

You should include maps, graphs and diagrams in your case study.

All information should be correctly sourced.

Stage Two: Presentation

You will give a presentation about how the disease you are studying impacts upon populations. It should focus upon points 4, 5 and 6 listed above.

You may use a PowerPoint presentation to support your presentation but not to act as a script.

Stage Three: Collaborative Revision Page

Working with other students who have studied the same disease as you, you will produce a page (or series of pages) for a wiki so that other AS / A2 / IB Geography students can revise about the impacts of that disease.

Your revision page needs to take the best elemenst from each of your case studies. It should include diagrams and maps and should all be correctly sourced.
