YouTube in the Classroom Tutorial – explains how you can download a clip using keepvid.com.
Tooble – YouTube > iTunes – links to a cross-platform programme – tooble – that helps you download YouTube clips and add them to iTunes for easy organisation and watching on a iPod etc
Report a Missing Video – YouTube videos do get taken down so links become broken – please use this link to report these broken links so I can mend them.
It’s all about making things accessible really. The accessiility of revision material for our ‘busy’ students. You may have noticed that under YouTube clips that have been embedded into geographyalltheway.com I have been adding the following icon:
The idea is to encourage students to use a service called ‘tooble‘ to download YouTube clips and add them to iTunes and therefore their video iPods. tooble is a program available for both Windows and Mac OS X. All you need to do is paste in the URL of the YouTube video and then tooble downloads it, converts it and adds it to iTunes so that it will be added to your iPod on the next sync.
No Comment TV is a YouTube Channel that provides news stories but without any commentary:
‘Welcome to NoComment TV – the Channel for euronews’ unique programme.
At euronews we believe in the intelligence of our viewers and we think that the mission of a news channel is to deliver facts without any opinion or bias, so that the viewers can make their own opinion on world events.
We also think that sometimes images need no explanation or commentary, which is why we created No Comment and now No Comment TV: to show the world from a different angle.’
In my mind this makes them ready to have students add commentaries using either audacity or Windows Movie Maker or similar programme. The following video ‘Coastguards intercepted a boat with African migrants’ would be a good follow up to the Mystery Ghost Ship.
The BBC docudrama ‘If The Oil Runs Out‘ is currently on available on YouTube, cut into 6 sections. I have added them all together to using playlist – see below. There is a good chance that it will not be on YouTube for ever!
