Recent Minor Updates to geographyalltheway.com

A busy week with a series of minor updates to geographyalltheway.com as well as some research into some future resources (a bypass project in the French Pyrenees and a flood management case study in the UK).

I have added this Showcase to try and show some of the resources which people may not know about.  Let me know if you think that there are any resources on geographyalltheway.com that you think should be added to the Showcase.

You can see the Showcase by clicking on the link which is found in the header of each webpage:

geographyalltheway.com Newsletter

I have changed the form used to subscribe to the geographyalltheway.com Newsletter.  I’m now using a Google Form as I believe that it should be allowed through more/most firewalls etc.  Please let me know if you have issues accessing the form and I’ll try to improve the accessibility further.

Talking Head – Text Versions of Speech

geographyalltheway.com - GCSE / IGCSE Geography - Niagara Tours
Uploaded with plasq’s Skitch!

I have added text versions of what the Talking Head characters say in the Greetings from Hallsands, Seaside Tours and Niagara Tours resource mini-sites – just for those very rare times that SitePal doesn’t play ball an the characters lose their voice.  It also helps the accessibility of the speech to EAL students and those with hearing issues.

Uploaded with plasq’s Skitch!

I have added a link so that teachers/educators using the Talking Head interviews from the Seaside Tours and Niagara Tours mini-sites can submit additional questions.  If I get enough suggestions – I’ll add those questions.

Starter > Activities > Review

As I work my way through geographyalltheway.com over the coming academic year one of my main aims is going to be to try and make the site easier to use for other people.  I realise that sometimes I present resources in a way that I understand but may look odd to others!

One of the maim ways I plan to do this is break down webpages into Starter, Activities and Review.  This will hopefully give lessons more structure and encourage me to produce more useful introduction and review/summary/revision tasks.  I will be using the icons above to do this – anybody recognise them?

I have already started this process – an exmaple can be seen here: GCSE/ IGCSE Geography: Long Profiles and Valley Cross Sections.

As always – if you have any feedback on such things please get in contact either via comments here or via the ‘Contact me‘ button above.
