Flickr: Update: Images added to geographyalltheway_photos

Having taken some time over the summer break to sort out all my digial photos I will be trying to use more of my own photography on geographyalltheway.com.  The photos below are ones I added to geographyalltheway_photos flickr account last night and have since added to lessons about Weathering and Erosion and Coastal Deposition.  Click on the images to view them in flickr and to get more details about what they show and where they were taken.

geographyalltheway.com Feedback

geographyalltheway.com - Online Geography Resources

I have added a feedback tag to everypage on geographyalltheway.com using uservoice - a ‘web 2.0′ feedback service.  Users of geographyalltheway.com can now easier give feedback on the site’s content.  Other users of the site can then vote upon this feedback to show the importance of the issues.  It also gives me a solid structure to show which pieces of feedback I am taking action on etc.

So get involved and leave some feedback - whether it is something you like, something you think could be improved or a broken link.

Royd Moor Wind Farm

I’m currently in the UK visiting my parents who live just outside Penistone.  There is a small wind farm on the ridge that can be seen from my parent’s house - Royd Moor Wind Farm.

Wikipedia has the following to say about it:

“The Royd Moor Wind Farm is located at Penistone, South Yorkshire and consists of thirteen 500 kW turbines. The site is located approximately 6 km north west of Penistone, above the A628 trunk road between Sheffield and Manchester. The turbines are set in two parallel, staggered rows of six and seven, on a ridge in hilly fell land lying 320 m above sea level.

These turbines were completed in 1993 and are 35m in height to the hub and have a rotor diameter of 37m. The maximum output is 6.5 MW, equivalent to the annual energy required to power 3300 homes.”

It was a great opportunity to take some photos for my geographyalltheway_photos Flickr account.  You can see the set here.  I have also added them to the Geography Teachers Resources Flickr Pool.

geogalot “rather sexy”

Alan Parkinson has described the look of geogalot - the new geographyalltheway.com updates blog as being “rather sexy” - which is nice.

He “like[s] the logo in particular” which came from this image which I took in the Pyrenees last summer:

Twitter > Dividing my ‘Twits’

I am trying to divide my ‘twits’.  I have set up a Twitter account called ‘geogalot‘ which I intend to use purely for updates to geographyalltheway.com - a sort of updates microblog.  I am keeping my ‘richardallaway‘ Twitter account for twits about me and what I am up to - this will still be geographical and technological - just not necessarily geographyalltheway.com related.

So - follow me!
